Zagreb – Slunj- NP Plitvice – River Gacka –Ličko Lišće- Cave Grabovača-Krasno- NP Southern Velebit – Kuterevo – Gospić – Smiljan – Zadar

Day 1: ZAGREB

Upon the arrival to Zagreb airport, meeting with guests and transfer to hotel. Dinner and overnight.

Day 2: ZAGREB-SLUNJ-PLITVICE NATIONAL PARK -SLUNJ

After breakfast, visit of the town of Zagreb is organised with local guide. Zagreb is the capital of Croatia, a town that attracts more and more visitors due to the architecture influenced by Austrian and Hungarian characteristics, beautiful green park areas, tasty food prepared with local ingredients and rich night and cultural life. Museums, galleries, unique bars and typical restaurants, especially in the heart of the old town – in Gornji grad are just one small part of the overall of the town of Zagreb. During the walking tour, the guide will reveal you the hidden corners of the old town, legends and will take you on unique journey that will present to you intriguing events that led to transformation of the small town into a buzzling and inviting central European capital.

After the tour, drive towards the region of Lika. Stop in Rastoke, by Slunj, a natural phenomenom of waterfalls of different size, on the confluence of rivers Slunjčica and Korana. Old picturesque village with houses and watermills is located on the cliffs and islets on the river and it’s listed as immovable cultural monument. Many refer to Rastoke as ‘Mini Plitvice’ so the visit is kind of introduction to the visit of Plitvice National Park.

Continuation to Plitvice National Park. Visit of the first proclaimed national park in Croatia and at the same time – a UNESCO site, the lakes of Plitvice will leave you mesmerized by the game of 16 cascade lakes, dynamical waterfalls and wooden paths that take you to into a fairy scenery. The shades of green are uncountable and a true relaxation of every day worries and stress. After the visit, return to Slunj – accommodation in hotel, dinner and overnight.

Day 3: SLUNJ-SOURCHES OF RIVER GACKA-LIČKO LIŠĆE-CAVE PARK GRABOVAČA-KRASNO

After breakfast, drive to the mills of the river Gacka that have been renewed and can be visited. Gacka river is one of the purest rivers in Europe, enabling to trouts from the river Gacka, to grow faster than in other rivers. The old mills were used for the production of the flour and local women are producing traditional grappa and homemade bread that you can try. Continuation to nearby settlement Ličko Lešće where you will have the opportunity to visit Croatian center for the autochtonous sorts of fish and karstic water crabs. The institut of Ruđer Bošković, from Zagreb, has determined that the genes of brown trout are different from the genes of other trouts, but brown trout is unfortunately endangered due to the construction of routes and this center is built to protect that specific sort. After guiding and promotional movie, continuation towards Perušić. Only 2,5 kilometers away, one of the hidden jewels is located – cave park Grabovača. It consists of 6 caves (Samograd, Medina pećina, Amidžina pećina, Tabakuša, Kozarica velika i mala) and one pit – Slipica. 3 caves are under protection as geomorphological nature monuments. The whole park is under protection as significant landscape from 2009. Visit of cave Samograd, which offers many nature creations: stalactites, stalagmites…and one natural creation that reminds on the statute of Virgin Mary. The lenght of the cave is 240 metres and visitors take steps to explore it. After the visit, drive to the village of Krasno – located on the slopes of the mountain of Velebit – a mountain which is completely under protection as Nature park. Krasno is approximately 800 meters above the sea level, and in the village, economy is developed: here are also Museum of forestry and two sawmills. Accommodation in the pension, dinner and overnight.

Day 4: KRASNO – NATIONAL PARK OF NORTHERN VELEBIT-KUTEREVO-KRASNO

After breakfast, drive to the entrance to the National Park of Northern Velebit – the youngest Croatian national park, from 1999., with surface of 109 km2. It is spreading only few kilometres of aerial line from the sea, but it has typical mountainous characteristics. In the park, there are: Velebit botanical garden, Hajdučki and Rožanski Ledges Strict Reserve, various endemic plant species…Fresh air, dramatic contrast of cliffs and lush forests are the main characteristics of this untouched natural oasis.

Return to Krasno and in nearby village – Kuterevo – visit of the unique shelter for orphaned bear cubs opened enabling a better understanding of this specific specie. Dinner is organised in the Kuterevo, in rural household, where you will have the opportunity to treat your taste buds with domestic, homemade dishes, to feel a real welcome and natural flavours of foodprepared only using local ingredients. Return in Krasno. Overnight.

Day 5: KRASNO-GOSPIĆ-SMILJAN-ZADAR

After breakfast, drive to the town of Gospić, located on the place where 3 rivers meet, right in the middle of one of the largest karstic fields in Croatia, on the altitude of 562 meters. Visit of the Museum of Lika, founded in 1958. and located in cultural monument of B category, in the late baroc style building. There are a few museum collections: Permanent archaeological collection «Terra viva», Numismatic section, Cultural- historical section with the collection of weapon, Etnographic section, Gallery section…drive to nearby village of Smiljan to visit Memorial center «Nikola Tesla», constructed in honour of ingenious scientist and innovator, born in Smiljan. The world that we know today, would not be possible without Tesla’s inventions. Find out which ones during the visit that includes: house where Nikola Tesla was born, stone monuments, multimedial center…Continuation towards the town of Zadar. Dinner in hotel and overnight.

Day 6: ZADAR

After breakfast, visit of the visit of the destination nr. 1, recently proclaimed by European Best Destinations for year 2016. One of the oldest towns in Croatia preserved historical remains from the ancient times: on the famous Forum Romanum, even today Roman remains can be seen and some parts were used to construct the stunning St. Donat’s church. One of the master pieces of sacral stone architecture – the cathedral of St. Anastasia’s – the biggest cathedral in Dalmatia is located here. The visit includes the entrance to Archaeological Museum, and to Museum of ancient glass – the greatest collection of ancient glass in this part of Europe. It’s a town with narrow streets vivacious with Mediterranean charm, local fish specialties served in small taverns and unique Sea organs – constructed to enable to sea itself to compose music. Waves are entering into pipes and are transformed into a sound. Nearby, you can also enjoy in ‘Greeting to sun’ – an installation which is directly connected to Sea organs producing special visual effects. A sunset from the beautiful Zadar promenade should not be missed as it was proclaimed to be the most beautiful sunset in the world, by famous Alfred Hitchcock, during his visit to the town of Zadar. Leisure time in the town of Zadar. Dinner and accommodation in the hotel.

Day 7: ZADAR

After breakfast, check out from the hotel. Transfer to the airport. Return flight.
